“The Snowy Day” Book Cover

For this assignment, I chose to do a remake of snowy day front and inside cover. I have fond memories of Ezra Jack Keats books and my love for the character Peter inspired me. I felt the original cover could have focused more on Peter as a character. I made sure to capture Peter's wonder and curiosity. It was important to me that, Peter, as  a black character was not just present but also dimensional and relatable! This piece was a mix of traditional gouache painting and digital collage. I used a muted pink and blue palette that feels authentic to a snowy morning in NYC.
