“THE NEW YORKER” Cover

This was an assignment where I was asked to create my dream project. I chose to do a “The New Yorker” cover, but I had so many ideas for the initial concept that it spiraled into a series of works I created during Summer 2022. They are all done digitally in a very painterly style. I wanted each piece to feel like a memory from childhood, and each piece relates to a memory of my own growing up in NYC. To embody this I chose a warm palette and a very soft rendering. I was inspired by both my own experiences and the work of one of my Illustration heroes Kadir Nelson.
